This AC provides specific information and . Providing good grounding — for both AC and DC power as well as for the radio signals — is very important for a trouble-free ham radio shack. Although proper power grounding is fairly straightforward for AC and DC power, grounding for the radio signals in a ham station is a different problem altogether. You have to deal with both situations. Kendal Amateur Athletic Club Founded in , we are a small friendly, voluntary-run club based in the market town of Kendal in South Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District. This advisory circular (AC) provides suggestions and safety related recommendations primarily to assist amateur and ultralight builders in developing individualized aircraft flight-test plans. It also provides guidance for experimental light sport aircraft flight testing after modifications to the aircraft. Based on several years' experience, I found that AC Log by N3FJP is easy to set-up and a joy to use. Upon my initial installation, ACL worked fine straight out of the box. I like to tinker with my logging software, so I naturally adjusted the format to my satisfaction, but mostly because "I like to tinker". This AC is not mandatory and does not constitute a regulation. This AC describes an acceptable means, but not the only means, to comply with airworthiness certification and operation requirements of amateur-built aircraft. However, if you use the means described in the AC, you need to follow it in all important aspects. 2.

I built my AC-1 in while in the Air Force. Made lots of contacts with the little TX. Once out of the AF and with my first house, I rigged up a 20M dipole under the eaves of the house and fed it with 33 ft.
The AC-1 would load up into that antenna on 40 just fine. By then I had a Hallicrafters SX receiver. Many more contacts with just that one crystal.
Not much of a station — but a whole lot of fun. One who kicks himself for selling my AC E-Mail will not be published required.
We never share your e-mail address. Content may not be reproduced without written permission. Few radios that I can think of have elevated themselves to the cult status enjoyed by the AC-1, but the 3-tube Knight Ocean Hopper regen also comes to mind.
There were plenty of AC-1's sold and built over the years so it's not as if they're rare. They seem to pop up frequently on E-Bay and the auctions are usually very spirited.
I guess the timing is just about right, with a large supply of now-retired ex's Novices who once owned an AC-1, looking to turn back the clock and recreate their early radio experience.
As transmitters go, they don't come much simpler, but the well-designed and smartly marketed radio made it extremely popular among the vast numbers of newly-licenced teenaged Novices who likely didn't have much spare change I may be wrong but I don't think they were ever available in anything other than kit form.
Bob KK5R:. Jason N3YUG:. I enjoy working contests, making contacts via CW and phone, experimenting with antennas and general tuning around the bands.
As an extension of my Amateur Radio hobby, I became interested in computer programming. I wanted to create easy to use software for my station that performed a variety of functions for contesting and general logging.
I began in with a program to log contacts during November Sweepstakes and shared it with local hams. The program was so well liked, I started to receive requests for additional software.
From that first program, our software library has grown to more than applications! Amateur Contact Log is an easy to use general logging program that has many great features including tracking of worked all states, counties and countries.
The rest of our programs are easy to use "contest specific" applications. You must pay careful attention to conductor size and keep connections tight and clean.
It can have high voltage on one end and very little voltage on the other. Because constructing a wiring system that has one common low-voltage point at RF for all the equipment usually is impractical, station builders should avoid using the term RF ground in favor of the more general term bonding, which means keeping all equipment at the same RF voltage, not necessarily zero.
You can bond equipment together at RF by connecting each piece of gear to a copper strap or pipe with a short piece of strap or wire.
Ham gear usually has a ground terminal just for this purpose. Then connect the bonding strap or pipe to your AC safety ground rod with a heavy wire.
